Fudizine: The People of Portland’s Food Magazine
Various Authors
2013-2014, Portland, OR.
Fudizine was lydz’s first graphic design project (so be nice!). This inaugural magazine-style zine accepted submissions of art and writing and currated underrepresented narratives around food and power.
This was done through Cascadia Education Project’s “Community Supported Everything”: a live-in community that served as a proof of concept for an affordable self-directed learning center for skill share and immersive art.
Issues 1 & 2.

Youth Print PDX: A zine Project for Title 1 Schools in Portland, OR.
Various Authors
2014-2019, Portland, OR.
Funded by Know Your City - a scrappy nonprofit with humble origins and ten year run - Lydz developed a curriculum to expand a newspaper program in SE Portland into a multi-school, multi-publication youth empowerment project.
Magazines were created through Portland Public Schools, Reynolds, and David Douglas School Districts. In its 3 year run, over 1000 youth were reached, 10 bilingual children’s books were created, 7 magazines, one eclectic cookbook, and several comic and poetry zines.
While art and sports budgets were cut and economically high risk students suffered, Youth Print PDX offered workshops in writing, photography, graphic design, podcasting, and journalism. Industry leaders of color built connections with students and supported them in their submissions and passions. YPP was the first program to report 100% participation from students, as every single student was supported and submitted something.
Here are some samples of the works created.
HourOfAction:
Daily Solidarity Checklists for Pal & Collective Liberation.
Born out of necessity during the escalation of the genocide in Palestine, HourOfAction was created to give people one hour a day of tangible action that could be taken to support weapon divestment, community building, and educating ourselves and each other on history and future building.
Through our archives, you can take a trip through time, check out and follow to do lists, or dive into the evergreen education portal.
In our education portal, you’ll find topics from the nakba and balfour declaration to ties to Black and Indigenous solidarity, Disability Justice, and how our liberation is intertwined.
You’ll see levels of boycotts folks are participating in and you can decide which works for you.
Through the maps and calendar, you’ll see an archive of all of the ways people came together to fight for Palestine, Sudan, the Congo, local activists, and more.
Some events are continuing to this day.
